In a nutshell...
Mavis is and Impid that lives in the forest that surrounds Castle Somnia's eastern and southern sidesm known as Redwind Forest. She prefers to be on her own to do her own things, only socializing when she must. (Which tends to be a lot more frequent than she cares for. When you live around Goblins and Gremlins, you tend to get a lot of uninvited guests.)
She tneds to be standoffish to and strangers, as most of the time a stranger typically means someone is after something of her's, typically of the "magical artifact" variety. (Again, Goblins and Gremlins are around.) Beings an adept at magic, she can evoke a number of spells, her go to being transformative hexes.
Stay off her lawn.
A lot of Tourists and local Goblins and Gremlins tend to intrude on her territory, either by accident, to steal something from her collection or sometimes to collect the bounty on her head... err, she's been known to cause trouble, via her experiments, sometimes on accident... sometimes on purpose, but you know how it goes. As such, intruders are met with a barrage of whatever spells she might be working on, but usually ends with a transformative hex, once the intruder has bee whittled down. Needless to say, she has a large and growing doll collection.

Mavis has a sentient spellbook simply referred to as Tome. Tome is one of the few that Mavis truly and fully trusts, Tome is capable of casting it's own spells and hexes, though is much more powerful working in tandem with Mavis. (The same, vice versa, too.)
Tome usually carries Mavis's wand with them, as Mavis is skilled enough to cast by hand, though if need be, the wand makes things much faster and much more powerful.
Tome is also inscribed with a large number of cooking recipes, mostly of basked goods. After all, cooking is really just alchemy you can eat.
